TheAssistant/Associate Director will be actively involved in clinicalissues, such as, quality management, operational efficiency andoutreach. The ability to assist in leading a highly proficient teamand excellent interpersonal skills are desired. The applicantshould have an academic orientation with evidence of scholarlyachievement. A history of funded research, current research fundingand experience in developing and translating their discoveries intonovel clinical applications is preferred. The applicant will beexpected to be active in teaching medical students, residents,fellows and graduate students. In addition, the Assistant/AssociateDirector will have responsibility to assist in providing clinicalmicrobiology direction and support to the faculty practicelaboratory that is part of the University of Maryland PathologyAssociates, P.A. Academic appointment and salary will becommensurate with experience.Required qualifications include Board certification/eligibility inClinical Microbiology (ABMM or equivalent) or Board certificationin Clinical Pathology. Experience in molecular and clinicalmicrobiology, to include bacteriology, mycology, mycobacteriology,parasitology and virology is necessary.The University of Maryland School of Medicine is the first publicand fifth oldest medical school in the United States.
