Rohit was named man-of-the-match after he hit 104 – this was his 4th hundred of the World Cup.Rohit Sharma is now the leading run-scorer in the 2019 World Cup with 544 runs. Only one other batsman – Kumar Sangakkara – has hit 4 hundred in a single edition of the World Cup. Dropped on 9, Rohit made Bangladesh pay with some sensational stroke play on a flat pitch.Virat Kohli has long admired Rohit Sharma’s batting prowess and he did not hold back in his praise of his deputy after India clinched victory.”I have been watching it for years now, I have been saying it publicly, in my opinion Rohit is the best one-day player,” Kohli said at the post-match presentation ceremony. “When he plays, we are heading towards a big score and it really helps with the way he’s playing.”Rohit scored an unbeaten 122 in a tricky run chase against South Africa before hitting 140 against Pakistan. His 102 against England went in vain in Birmingham on Sunday but 2 days later, Rohit returned to the same venue to score a match-winning hundred.Virat Kohli also doffed his hat to Bangladesh who came close in their chase of 315. Shakib Al Hasan set it up for his team before some lower-order hitting made India nervous in the closing stages of the game.At the end of the day, Kohli was a relieved man after India became only the 2nd team to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2019 World Cup.advertisement”I mean Bangladesh has played some really good cricket in the tournament.
