first_imgSome of Inspectors take hold of their new bikes.…with 20 motorbikes, rain gears to enhance operationAuthorities at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Liberia on Friday, September 7, provided 20 motorbikes, tools and rain gears to environmental inspectors across the country.The provision of the motorcycles, tools and rain gears, according to EPA’s assistant manager for logistics, D. Carlton Wonsiah, are intended to enhance the operation of environmental inspectors across the country.Mr. Wonsiah said that inspectors in Montserrado County received four of the 20 bikes, while the rest of the counties were given two each.He said that EPA’s inspectors are currently based in 10 of the country’s 15 counties, but they also cover other counties were inspectors are not stationed.Prior to taking ownership of their motorbikes for use at the various assignments, Wonsiah said the motorbikes were properly checked, to ensure that they do not develop mechanical fault.EPA’s assistant manager for Administration Thompson S. K. Danfelee said that the bikes were provided by United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and asked each of the inspectors to take proper care of them.He mandated environmental inspectors to provide monthly reports on the operation of the bikes assigned to them.Danfelee said EPA will take a monthly report on the status of the motorbikes as a prerequisite for the inspectors to maintain the bikes as their own.Head of Environmental Inspectors Edward Wingbah called on inspectors to use the motorbikes for the intended purpose, pleading with them to regularly change some of the vital parts, including the engine oil.Wingbah cautioned the inspectors against reckless operation of the bikes, and said the lifespan of each of the bike would increase if they are adequately taken care of.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img
