Police host “Health & Safety” awareness walk in Linden

first_imgThis all-female team was rewarded with a trophy for participation and early attendance at the end of Friday’s awareness walkIn observation of Occupational Safety and Health Month 2019, the Guyana Police Force’s E Division (Linden-Kwakwani) held a “Safety and Health” awareness walk on Friday in Linden, Region 10.The event was spearheaded by the Division’s Community Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent Palesa Peters-Fernandes, and Woman Inspector Colette Evans. The awareness walk, held under the theme “Safety and Health and the future of work, building on the knowledge and achievements accumulated over the years”, saw the participation of some 30 other ranks.The journey started from the Mackenzie Hospital and ended at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.The walk also saw the attendance of Senior Safety and Health Officer of the Social Cohesion Ministry, Rondel Cole.In a statement from the Police Force, it was noted that the country’s premier law enforcement agency has placed great emphasis on the importance of its human resources, which have been highlighted as a primary focus in its ongoing reform process.The Force has also, through its Safety and Health Officer Deputy Superintendent Dexter Brown, strategically implemented mechanisms to identify and report potential Occupational Safety hazards throughout the Force.last_img
