If you’re looking for a solution to bring your Final Cut Pro X videos into Premiere Pro, this would be it! In the following video, Dan Allen shows you how to convert your FCPX projects for Premiere Pro.Ideally it’s always a good idea to start your rough edits in the same application you’ll be finish editing with (and maybe use some specialized applications along the way for graphics and color grading). Whenever you bounce between editing apps some things will no doubt get ‘lost in translation’.That being said, there are instances when you may need to ‘convert’ your video editing projects from one app to another. Maybe you’ve outgrown your more basic editing solution (in this case FCPX) and are in need of a more robust alternative (Premiere Pro). Premiumbeat favorite Dan Allen, shares his workflow for getting Final Cut Pro X projects into Premiere Pro, as well as the pros and cons of this workflow.FCPX projects will not automatically open up in Premiere. So, to make the conversion you’ll need a utility app called Xto7. Intially it was designed to open up Final Cut Pro X projects in Final Cut Pro 7, but it also works with Premiere. The app will set you back $50, but for the pro editor that’s making a big switch from FCPX to Premiere it’s a small price to pay.You can download Xto7 over at the Mac Store.Although the translation between apps is quick, it certainly isn’t fool proof. Titles created in FCPX will not open up in Premiere. Mixed resolution projects will not auto scale to the frame size you have set in Premiere Pro. Also, any 5.1 surround sound mixing you do in FCPX won’t carry over (more on this robust audio tool here). However, these are all pretty small setbacks when you take into account the time it would take to rebuild a FCPX project in Premiere. Plus, you’ll now have access to a nice post production workflow, using the tools in Audition and After Effects.See the Final Cut Pro X to Premiere Pro workflow in action:
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal will celebrate Bengali author Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, who wrote the national song Vande Mataram, rather than Rabindranath Tagore. State BJP president Dilip Ghosh said there is nothing new about Tagore to celebrate.“There is nothing new to celebrate about Rabindranath Tagore. Everything has been said and done and he is revered. We will rather celebrate the achievements of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay as he is not properly recognised in Bengal,” Mr. Ghosh told The Hindu on Sunday. The key reason for not engaging with Bengal’s favourite bard is however different. The Trinamool Congress has been over celebrating Tagore over the last years, he pointed out.“The Trinamool has been able to get involved in a big way in celebrating Tagore’s works. The ruling party is even utilising government funds to celebrate the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore,” said Mr. Ghosh. On the other hand, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s contribution to the “rise of Indian nationalism and the freedom struggle is hardly celebrated in Bengal”, he said. In fact, the BJP will hold a conference on Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay during national president Amit Shah’s Bengal visit later this month. Mr. Shah will be visiting Bengal on June 27 and 28, and he will visit Purulia district where two BJP workers died recently. The 19th century author’s novel Anandamath — which was set in the background of the Sanyashi Bidroho (rebellion of monks in late 18th century) — is considered to be one of key works on Bengal’s nationalism.Tagore and HindutvaAsked if ideological difference is the reason behind the State BJP’s decision to not celebrate Tagore, Mr. Ghosh clarified that Tagore also spoke positively of Hindutva.“Tagore also spoke of Hindutva and explained its meaning. He also said that Muslims and Christians of the country were originally Hindus who later changed their faith,” said Mr. Ghosh.A senior State BJP leader admitted that “Mamata Banerjee has found a successful way to reach out to people by celebrating Tagore. But Trinamool has largely ignored Bankim Chandra. We want to fill up that gap.”Moreover, “our Intellectual Cell has not been very active of late. Celebration of Bankim Chandra’s works will give fresh oxygen to the Cell’s effort to garner support of the civil society,” the BJP leader said.
At least one person was killed and several others injured in firing in the Bhatpara-Kakinara area of North 24 Paraganas, about 30 km from Kolkata. The deceased was identified as Dharamveer Shaw. While the police confirmed the death of Mr. Shaw, a street food vendor, locals said one more person was killed, a claim that could not be confirmed. At least three more civilians and a few policemen were injured. It was after a two-hour clash, during which miscreants hurled bombs at each other, that the police reached Bhatpara. They claimed that they had been attacked by the locals and “vehicles were vandalised”. However, one person, who claimed to be an uncle of Mr. Shaw, said that “the police opened fire without any provocation and killed his nephew.” His body could be seen lying in a pool of blood, while the bullet that presumably hit him pierced the shutter of a shop. A police officer said they had not “fired and killed civilians.”The area, predominantly inhabited by migrant workers from Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh, witnessed sporadic violence following the election result, which saw BJP leader Arjun Singh defeating Dinesh Trivedi of Trinamool Congress. The locals described various incidents — which were also communal — caused by the turf war between the Trinamool and the BJP.The State government has decided to set up a new police station in Bhatpara, and it was supposed to be inaugurated on Thursday. But the inauguration was postponed following the violence. Additional Director-General of Police (Barrackpore Police Commissionerate) Sanjay Singh reached the area with a huge force. The Rapid Action Force was also deployed. Director-General of Police Virendra also reached there and held meetings with officials.Home Secretary Alapan Banerjee said Section 144 had been imposed. “Section 144 has been imposed in Bhatpara, Jagaddal and adjacent areas. Law and order will be restored and the situation will be normalised,” Mr. Banerjee said.BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya said the party was sending a team of MPs to Bhatpara. “It is a clear case of the police opening fire and killing an innocent person. [Chief Minister] Mamata Banerjee has lost mental balance and the State government has failed to control the situation despite continuing violence in the area for quite some time,” he said. He said a team of BJP MPs would visit Bhatpara on Friday. Local MP Arjun Singh said the police “fired and killed Shaw from a close range.”TMC leader Tapas Ray said the BJP was “instigating such violence to destabilise the TMC government.” “The TMC came to power with popular mandate and still has a majority in the Assembly. But it is routinely disturbed by the Central government. This violence is an attempt of the Centre to dislodge the State government,” Mr. Ray said.
