ANOTHER FAMOUS SHOP FORCED TO CLOSE ITS DOORS

first_imgAnother historic shop on Letterkenny’s Main Street has been forced to close.Classic Casuals has been trading as a men’s clothing out for more than two decades. Before that the shop was known as the Prefect Tailor. Owner Sean Foody was a hugely well-known and respected businessman during that time. This week members of the public reacted with shock and regret at the news of the closure which took place on Saturday last.“It’s just another sign of the times. People aren’t spending money on clothes anymore but it seems so unfair.“Sean and the lads in Classic Casuals were always a pleasure to deal with. They went that extra yard to look after their customers. “They would always be pleasant when you needed anything special,” said a customer. ANOTHER FAMOUS SHOP FORCED TO CLOSE ITS DOORS was last modified: April 24th, 2012 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:Classic Casualsletterkennylast_img read more

Anger over HSE decision to scale back respite services at Sea View House

first_imgDonegal TD Pearse Doherty had hit out at government ‘penny-pinching’ which is limiting respite services at Sea View House in Mountcharles.Services are provided five days a week (Mon-Fri) since the RehabCare Group took over responsibility for the facility. It has now been revealed that the HSE received tenders from six separate service providers, all for a 7 day service. A parliamentary response issued to Doherty TD showed that six outside service providers had made bids to provide respite care at Sea View. All bar one had submitted tenders for both a five day service and a seven day service, while one bidder tendered for a seven day service only.Pearse Doherty has hit out at the HSE’s decision to opt for a scaled-back plan.“The document also reveals that under the seven-day option, the service would have delivered 1,344 bed nights for adults and children with a range of support needs, and during weekends and holiday periods would have operated on a 24 hour basis,” Deputy Doherty said.“Yet, the five-day plan which is what has been awarded by the HSE only commits the operator to provide 1,000 bed nights for patients while there is no provision made whatsoever for holiday times or weekends.” Deputy Doherty says the people of Donegal deserve better. He said: “This is one of the clearest demonstrations I’ve ever come across of shameful penny-pinching by the Government and HSE.“By choosing to award a five day contract with no weekend cover they have effectively told those requiring respite support in the south of the county that services are only available between Mondays and Fridays and that they should not make any plans to take a rest or have a break away from looking after their sick loved ones outside of that.“Everyone knows that parents of sick children in particular are most likely to need and avail of respite services whenever their children are off school such as at weekends or during school holidays, yet this will not be an option for them now owing to this decision.“Everyone appreciates and understands that the HSE must keep costs in mind and must operate within budget however Government has repeatedly and deliberately chosen to starve the health service of cash while prioritising tax cuts for the wealthy and allowing the cost of state capital and other projects to overrun with zero to little oversight. “The people of Donegal deserve better than this: they deserve access to health services which are fit for purpose and which meet the needs of some of our most vulnerable in society, yet they are being failed time and time again by this Fine Gael government.“This situation is not good enough and I will continue to highlight this injustice with the Minister and the HSE at every available opportunity in advance of respite services being transferred over to the new operator in the Autumn.”Anger over HSE decision to scale back respite services at Sea View House was last modified: June 28th, 2019 by Rachel McLaughlinShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more
