Nuno insists Wolves focused on Bragaby Freddie Taylora month agoSend to a friendShare the loveNuno Espirito Santo insists that everyone at the club is focused on their next game – a Europa League tie against Braga.Wolves are suffering a dip in form, after suffering two successive defeats against Everton and Chelsea. They are in the bottom three in the Premier League, which is an unusual position considering their form last season. But Nuno thinks they must take things one game at a time in order to find their groove.”It’s the third season for us. We started in the Championship, Thursday we play Europa League, we are the same,” said Nuno to reporters.”We have to work hard, but we don’t stay too much time in the past, we just look at Thursday.”This is my job. We didn’t create much but the chance they had they got it. It’s a tough game. We have to keep on going.”All the goals are mistakes. If there was perfection there would be no goals. Aston Villa striker Wesley: Being father at 14 forced me to chase Euro careerby Paul Vegas6 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveAston Villa striker Wesley has spoken of becoming a father at the age of 14.The Brazilian signed for the midlands club in the summer in a £22.5 million transfer from Club Brugge”I had my first child when I was 14 years old,” Wesley told Sky Sports. “It was difficult because it was during this time that I started to try and play football professionally.”I had to work in the day and then go to training in the evening.”I was 14 when I had my first kid, and 16 when I had my second. When I had my children, I told myself I had to do everything to be a football player.”Despite having two children to care for, Wesley went for broke when he was 17, embarking on a six-month trip to Spain for a trial with Atletico Madrid. It proved unsuccessful, but Wesley hailed the experience as “amazing” before heading to France, and then eventually ending up back in Brazil working in a factory where reality began to hit.”I had to get money for my kids. I would go to a team and every team said no,” Wesley added, before revealing how he ended up with AC Trencin. “I went to six teams before going to Slovakia.”When I went to the sixth team, I thought I didn’t want to play football anymore. Ohio State sophomore defensive lineman Joey Bosa of one of the most promising young players in the nation. He also seems to be quite skilled in the trash talk department.Tuesday morning, following his team’s 42-20 College Football Playoff National Championship win over Oregon, Bosa took to Instagram to poke a bit of fun at his opponent. We’re not sure if he’s just responding to the fact that the Ducks were favored in the contest or whether he had words with some of Oregon’s players during the game. But considering he posted a photo of Mariota lying on the ground (after this hit), with the words “O, No”, we think it’s safe to say he feels justified rubbing it all in.It’s quite likely that Mariota and Bosa will see each other at the next level. But for now, it’s Bosa and the Buckeyes who have bragging rights.
Draymond Green Michigan StateFormer Michigan State forward Draymond Green was certainly a force during his college days, but the Spartans star wasn’t looked at as one of the best players in the 2012 NBA Draft – mostly because teams couldn’t figure out what his natural position on the floor would be. Turns out most of those teams are now regretting passing on him. The Warriors star, who was eventually selected with the No. 35 overall pick, won a title last night after putting up a triple-double in game six of the NBA Finals. He’s one of the most versatile players in the NBA, too. After the game, Green, in celebration, was seen screaming to his mother “they told me I can’t play in this league.” It was a great redemption moment.Green is set to make some serious money this offseason. Apparently, he can play in this league.

ESPN’s Ryan Clark is the latest to do so.Appearing on Get Up! this morning, Clark advocated for the Green Bay Packers to pursue Saban. Clark didn’t say if Saban would be interested in Green Bay’s hypothetical overtures, just that the team should contact him.The Packers are looking for a new head coach after jettisoning Mike McCarthy mid-season.Here’s what Clark had to say, via For The Win’s transcription:“If you’re Green Bay right now, you sell the [farm]. You sell the [farm]. You send everybody to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and you try to get Nick Saban to leave Alabama and become the coach. When you look at quarterback-coach relationships — Sean Payton and Drew Brees, Bill Belichick, Tom Brady — there is mutual respect and accountability there.“There is no one who can hold Aaron Rodgers more accountable than Nick Saban. Wisconsin has absolutely dominated time of possession with its rushing attack, 35:19 to 11:47.Hopefully our Michigan readers have something nice lined up for this evening, because they’re going to want to take their minds off of this one. FOXWe’re just moments removed from Michigan’s first touchdown of the game against Wisconsin. It was probably the only bright spot the Wolverines have had today.UM trails Wisconsin 35-8 after the score. It is amazingly the first score of any kind that Wisconsin has surrendered this season. The Badgers led 28-0 at halftime. The Badgers may be really good this fall, but Michigan should not be getting blown out by this margin, by any team. Jim Harbaugh has brought plenty of talent into the program, and this year’s team entered the fall as the favorite to win the Big Ten, with questions at places like Ohio State and Penn State.Instead, this season looks like it’s going to fall pretty far short of expectations, at least based on how today’s game in Madison, plus two less-than-stellar early season wins have looked.

The home team stood firm to deal with the visitor’s threat in the second half to sealed their second win of the season when Rene Mihelic converted a penalty (90+4′) to make it 2-0.The three points helped Delhi Dynamos climb above Kerala Blasters to the eighth spot in the ISL standings courtesy of a head-to-head advantage. Josep Gombau’s team has 10 points from 13 matches and Kerala have the same tally, having played a game more. Also, Kerala are now winless in 13 matches in the ISL.Delhi’s new signing Ulises Davila announced his arrival in the 15th minute. The Mexican forward made room for a shot at the edge of the box with a fine touch before dispatching an attempt that went wide. The hosts asserted themselves in the game as the minutes went by. Davila’s movement caused the Kerala centre-backs trouble once again in the 24th minute. Lallianzuala Chhangte latched onto a pass on the left flank and delivered a teasing cross for Davila who sneaked in between Nemanja Lakic-Pesic and Sandesh Jhingan but failed to hit the target from close-range.Delhi broke the deadlock from a set-piece in the 29th minute. Mihelic’s out-swinging delivery found Zuiverloon unmarked inside the box and the defender volleyed the ball home to give his team the lead.advertisementA minute later, an excellent drilled cross by Nandhakumar Sekar from the right flank provided Mihelic with a chance to double his team’s lead but the Slovenian blazed his effort over the bar.Kerala almost clawed their way back into the game a minute after the restart. Stojanovic’s free-kick was headed on target by Lakic-Pesic but his looping effort was denied by the crossbar.A low throw-in by Cyril Kali in the 53rd minute caused confusion inside the box for the Delhi defence. Shubham Sarangi missed his attempt to clear, allowing Poplatnik to hit the ball on the turn but the striker shot wide.In the 72nd minute, another failed clearance, this time from a corner at the other end, allowed Chhangte to put his foot through the loose ball but the winger ended up slicing his effort into the side-netting.A scrappy period of football ensued in the final minutes and the Delhi defence stood firm to prevent a late Kerala comeback.A poor backpass by Sahal Samad in the final minute of injury time allowed Chhangte through on goal. Lalruatthara brought the forward down inside the box in an attempt to avert danger and instead, picked up a red card and conceded a penalty. Rahane and Kohli have their own unique strengths as captain: Rajasthan Royals coachRajasthan Royals head coach Paddy Upton made it clear that while comparisons were a part and parcel of any sport, both Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli were unique in their own ways.advertisement Indo-Asian News Service New DelhiMarch 18, 2019UPDATED: March 18, 2019 12:36 IST Ajinkya Rahane was elevated to the captain’s role at Rajasthan Royals last season (IPL Photo)HIGHLIGHTSAjinkya Rahane will be leading Rajasthan Royals for the second time this seasonRajasthan Royals had crashed out in the knockouts last yearTeam ambassador Shane Warne will assist RR coach Paddy Upton this seasonThey have been an integral part of India’s journey to the top of the ladder in Test cricket, but the next two months will see Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli fight it out as both teams look to win the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).While Kohli has led RCB for a while now, this will be Rahane’s second season as RR captain and head coach Paddy Upton is excited to have the calm and cool ‘Jinx’ (as Rahane is fondly called) at the helm of affairs.Speaking to IANS, Upton made it clear that while comparisons were a part and parcel of any sport, both Rahane and Kohli were unique in their own ways and the way Jinx reads situations and his teammates, is what makes him succeed.”You get players who are naturally big-pictured and strategically minded individuals and they make good on-field captains and then you get some who are very good people leaders and inspire other players. Each captain brings a different quality with their leadership which then needs to be balanced by other senior players.”Rahane has his own unique way of reading and understanding the game and dealing with people. His personality is very different from that of Virat Kohli so they have their own unique strengths,” he said.Rahane was elevated to the captain’s role last season after Steve Smith was suspended, due to the ball-tampering scandal in the Cape Town Test. This season will see the India batsman take charge for the second time.advertisementAsked if there would be added pressure on the captain since the team did well under him in 2018, Upton feels otherwise.”I think it will actually be less pressure as the first time you have to adjust a lot more and now there is more comfort so I feel he will be more at home.”Coming back to Smith, the former Australia skipper is already with the team and Upton is excited to have him not just as a solid bat in the middle-order, but also as someone who will keep helping the youngsters in the RR unit.”Smith is a seriously good player. He knows how to pace an innings or set the chase. He will be hungry and looking to get back into the groove as early as possible. I feel he will be the perfect support for Rahane in helping with decision-making. Exciting to have him back in the middle-order,” he said. Two other players who will be looking to play an integral role in this edition if RR are to go on and lift the trophy are Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler. Upton says that he is banking on them to make it count.”Every player in the XI is important and then you have some who are match winners. Ben Stokes is one of them. We want to create a culture which will give him the best possible chance to fire as often as possible. This will be my first season with him.”Jos has been very successful not just for England or in the IPL. He has done well for almost all teams he has played for. He is a class-player and he is going to have a minimum of 35 quality bowlers bowling at him and I don’t think they can keep him quiet,” he explained. While RR has done well as a unit constantly, the trophy has eluded them post their maiden triumph in 2008 and Upton believes that the team will be working towards improving in all possible areas to increase the chances of lifting the coveted title.”Each year we are looking to pay more attention to what we call the 1 per cent-ers. Just to be in constant search to do whatever possible to give us the best chance to succeed. Luck is a factor in T20 cricket and one individual can make the difference. Looking to constantly improve. We have some new plans and ideas so looking to be positive.”We have got a slightly more older/senior players than previous years. But that isn’t by design. The philosophy is to give people opportunities to flourish won’t change,” he said.A chat with the head coach of RR remains incomplete without a mention of team ambassador Shane Warne and Upton says he is looking forward to having the leg-spinner around.”I have never worked with Shane before. Looking to meet him and build the relationship so that we can extract the best out of that mind for the players,” he concluded.advertisementFor sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports. PM Narendra Modi biopic is Vivek Oberoi saying Phir Ek Baar Modi Sarkar, Lok Sabha 2019 and 2024Vivek Oberoi, who stars in and as PM Narendra Modi, has been closely associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party for several years now.advertisement Next Samrudhi Ghosh New DelhiApril 10, 2019UPDATED: April 10, 2019 17:22 IST Vivek Oberoi at the trailer launch of PM Narendra Modi in MumbaiOmung Kumar’s PM Narendra Modi was scheduled to hit the theatres on April 11, the very same day that the first phase of Lok Sabha polls begins. The conveniently timed release had several claiming that the biopic of the incumbent prime minister is nothing but a surreptitious advertisement for ‘Phir Ek Baar Modi Sarkar’.However, earlier today, the Election Commission stalled the release of the PM Narendra Modi biopic, on the grounds that it could influence the votes of the audience.Vivek Oberoi, who plays the eponymous role in PM Narendra Modi, has been a vocal supporter of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and campaigned for Narendra Modi in Varanasi in 2014. He even attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May 2014. On both occasions, he prominently sported a lotus (the symbol of the ruling party) on his ‘Modi jacket’. When asked about his close association with the party, Vivek told India Today Television, “I don’t belong to the BJP, I belong to India.” Interestingly, this year, he is among the star campaigners for the BJP in Gujarat and will travel to various constituencies in the state to attempt to woo voters.Even though the BJP has no ostensible connection with the PM Narendra Modi biopic, the film has their stamp of approval. If the first poster was launched by BJP leader and Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis, the second poster was supposed to be launched by BJP president Amit Shah.Perhaps, Vivek is laying the groundwork for joining the BJP a few years from now. At a recent interaction with students in Vadodara, he opened up about the possibility of him contesting the Lok Sabha election 2024.advertisement”If I join politics, I might think of contesting from Vadodara in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections just because of the love and affection people gave PM Narendra Modi when he contested from here,” he said.Whether it is showing up at the trailer launch in his Narendra Modi attire or bringing his warcry – Modi hai toh mumkin hai – to the event, Vivek is making no bones about the fact that he is endorsing the prime minister.”Maine film bhakton ke liye nahi, deshbhakton ke liye banayi hai,” he told India Today Television.Vivek emphasised during the interview that the PM Narendra Modi biopic is not an attempt to sway voters in favour of the BJP. “It is just a coincidence that the film is releasing ahead of the election. It is not a propaganda film. I am an individual who has a credible body of work over the last 18 years, more than 45 films and more than 26-27 awards. So I stand my ground there. Akshay Ramesh ChennaiMay 8, 2019UPDATED: June 7, 2019 20:03 IST Mumbai Indians have beaten Chennai Super Kings 7 times in their last 8 meetings in IPL ( Courtesy by BCCI)HIGHLIGHTSMI reached their 5th IPL final after beating CSK in Qualifier 1 on TuesdayCSK haven’t beaten MI at Chepauk since 2010MI extended their Chepauk record to 5 wins from 7 matches on TuesdayThe MA Chidambaram Stadium has been Chennai Super Kings’ fortress over the years. In fact, MS Dhoni’s men have won 19 of their last 24 matches at the “Anbuden”.Over the years, Chennai Super Kings have banked on their performances on the slow Chepauk pitches to outfox opponents and consistently qualify for playoffs. However, when Mumbai Indians invade, Chepauk no longer remains the three-time champions’ den.Mumbai Indians were at it again in Chennai as they thrashed Chennai Super Kings in the Qualifier 1 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 and made it to their fifth final. | MI vs CSK Qualifier 1 – Highlights | Report |On a sluggish wicket at Chpeauk, Mumbai beat Chennai in their own game — use the spinners and strangulate the batting side.Mumbai Indians clinched a comfortable six-wicket win after restricting Chennai Super Kings to a below-par 131 for 4 in 20 overs. Rahul Chahar (2 for 14), Krunal Pandya (1 for 21) and Jayant Yadav (1 for 25) put the brakes on the scoring rate and kept even the likes of MS Dhoni quiet in front of a sea of yellow.Mumbai Indians have extended their positive record at Chepauk to 5-2 and are now unbeaten at CSK’s fortress since 2010. In IPL 2019, Mumbai have successfully overcome the Chepauk hurdle twice.Shedding light on Mumbai Indians’ consistent success in Chennai over the years, captain Rohit Sharma said their all-conditions attack and a batting unit that is keen on executing its plans well have helped them tame CSK at their own backyard.”We’ve got a balanced squad. Whatever the conditions are, we’ve got the squad for them. Have the balance we need on that kind of pitch. Even the batters are confident in what they want to execute. That’s probably one of the reasons we’ve had some success in Chennai because we play the conditions well and understand the conditions well,” Rohit Sharma said on Tuesday.advertisement5th @IPL final2010 -2013 -2015 -2017 -2019 – ?#OneFamily #CricketMeriJaan #MumbaiIndians #MIvCSK @surya_14kumar pic.twitter.com/hUcgEXGvweMumbai Indians (@mipaltan) May 7, 2019Mumbai Indians reached the fifth IPL final after their dominant win over Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday. Great feeling to know that we’ll be playing the finals. Three days now in which we can switch off before the final. Much needed break,” an elated Rohit added.Surykumar probably one of MI’s best batsmen: RohitMeanwhile, Rohit Sharma also heaped praise on Suryakumar Yadav, who stole the show with the bat with a well-paced 71 off just 54 balls.Mumbai Indians were jolted early in their chase of 132 as they lost both openers Rohit and Quinton de Kock cheaply inside the powerplay. However, Suryakumar Yadav batted with a lot of maturity and kept the scoreboard ticking along without taking a lot of risks. The Surya that shone with in Chennai! The Mumbai Ranji Trophy captain had hit 10 fours but not a single six on a difficult wicket against three quality spinners in Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh.”He [Suryakumar] is probably one of our best batsmen against spin. We knew the spin threat they possess will be a huge factor. Surya plays spin very well. I’ve seen him at close quarters. The shots he plays behind the wicket, those are not easy shots. Always knew he was going to come good at some stage,” Rohit said. Also Read | IPL 2019: MS Dhoni wants batsmen to do better with 1 chance left for final berthAlso See:For sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports.
